Pressed for time? Newport Enterprises offers American Heart Association Skills Checks for individuals who desire to complete the first portion of the class online (part 1). We offer appointments on the days indicated. Please plan about 30-45 minutes to complete the skills check.
In order to be issued a BLS Providers Certification using this method, please note that all participants must complete the following:
1) On your own, complete the American Heart Association BLS Heartcode Part 1 (online) course. Print your certificate out when you are finished. You may find this at https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-bls
2) Register here for the Skills Session. You must pay your fee to confirm your spot, and will be subject to our normal class cancellation and rescheduling policies. You are commiting a time slot in our appointment book. NO SHOWS WILL BE CHARGED IN FULL.
3) IF YOU DO NOT BRING YOUR CERTIFICATE TO CLASS, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPLETE YOUR SKILLS CHECK, AND YOU WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO A REFUND. THIS WILL BE TREATED THE SAME AS A NO SHOW. In certain circumstances, you may be eligible to reschedule your session for a change fee of $25.
4) Please be on time for your appointment. Tardiness on your part would have an impact on appointments behind you, and that's not fair to others. If you arrive late for your appointment, you may be turned away. Additionally, all Skills Check appointments follow the same rescheduling and cancellation policies as our regular classes. Our policy may be found at http://www.newport-enterprises.com/policies and your registration herein indicated your understanding and agreement.
5) In most cases, you will receive your BLS Providers eCard upon completion of your Skills Check or by the end of the day.
6) You are not required to have the class textbook, as all material is presented online.
7) There will be a brief period of practice and equipment familiarization (Part 2), before beginning the Skills Check (Part 3).
If you have any questions, please email curt@newport-enterprises.com
LIABILITY STATEMENT
This course may include physical strain and emotional stress. If your physician has recommended that you avoid strenuous activity or limit your activity in any way, you need to realize that CPR is hard work. This is true both in practicing on the manikin and doing CPR for a cardiac arrest victim.
If you have any medical or cardiac history that may be aggravated by the performance of CPR, you should consult your physician and ask his advice as to whether you should participate in a CPR course. You will be spending a great deal of time on the floor on your knees. If you have an injury or disability that requires accommodation, please inform the instructor before the class begins.
If you have recently had any type of infectious disease, including upper respiratory infection or open sores on your mouth or hands, it is better to defer manikin practice until you are well.
By registering for this course, I understand that the American Heart Association, Newport Enterprises, its instructors, associates, and all others affiliated with the offering of this course, or it’s materials, cannot be held responsible in the event that injury or illness occurs or becomes more severe during or as a result of taking this course. I also understand and agree that successful completion of this course requires the performance of certain skills at a certain proficiency. If I am unable to perform the skills as required, it may result in a NON-CERTIFICATION in this course.
